Book Three. Mount the Munificent (2025)

Just when it looks like things are settling down, and James embarks on an ambitious project, some unlikely characters re-emerge from the past to drag him back down. Was it true, as he'd always believed, that life was unfair and he'd never amount to anything? All the strands come together as previously separated characters clash in this conclusion to the trilogy.

James Mount is an ex-copper who yearns to be a modern-day Robin Hood. But he's an unlikely hero, suffering from PTSD and now a diagnosis of terminal cancer. Set in the modern day Midlands of England, James must overcome the negative effect of his overbearing father and narcissistic ex-wife, violence from the nefarious criminals he's now forced to mingle with and the increasing attention of the police.

Having developed one strong and fascinating principal character, the author spins a keen web of challenges and a cast of well-drawn characters that serve to introduce a fresh new series, set in England. Superb writing, related with considerable humor, this is a new whodunit series to follow closely. Very highly recommended.

Book One. Mount has an Epiphany (2023)
Book Two. Mount in a Kerfuffle (2023)

James attempts to extricate himself from a life of crime. The bodies are piling up and police surveillance is unrelenting. However, there are too many living links to the past that can drag him under. He's not the type to go round killing people so has to figure out legitimate means of breaking the links. James discovers that sometimes the crooks aren't always the baddies. However a new one emerges, Clive the Nutter, a sociopath with disgusting eating habits and "the attention span of a gnat," And Clive has a hate on for him.

The narrative artfully delves into the underclass, offering rich character development in a gritty setting. What stands out are the playful, witty dialogues that add depth to this lighthearted yet morally complex tale. The trilogy’s satisfying conclusion is a testament to its highly imaginative and engaging storytelling.

The well-developed characters and clever dialogue add depth to the story, making it an intriguing read. Set against the backdrop of a struggling British economy, this book cleverly challenges the notion of good and bad. With unexpected plot twists and a glimpse into British life, it's a perfect beach read that offers both laughter and a sense of justice.
